What is a TOM? It is an acronym created and taught by the Digital Product Transformation and Leadership Coach, Jason D. Jones. It is a clarification for a type of metrics that can be used to directly correlate to value, customer satisfaction, customer experience, and quality for starters. The last requirement for a metric to be a TOM, is that it must be value testable, meaning it must be able to reflect a direct customer behavior or even system performance metric that actually can be linked directly to financial value (sales increase, profit margin, customer centricity, cost reduction, risk avoidance). A TOM is an ideal way to add accounting, market, and investment by data driven assessments to your product roadmap and backlog.
